Enable Location Permissions on iOS and Android

Updated by Travis Bates

Location permission is required for Bluetooth communications on mobile devices due to the privacy protections built into iOS and Android operating systems. Follow the steps below to check that Location permissions are allowed for ZENTRA Utility Mobile on iOS or Android devices.

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and tap on the app name (or go to Privacy & Security > Location Services, then find the app).
  • Tap Location.
  • Choose one of the following options:
    • Never - disables location access.
    • Ask Next Time Or When I Share - prompts you each time.
    • While Using the App - allows access only when the app is open.
    • Always – allows access even in the background (if available).
  • Make sure Location Services is turned ON globally under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

Android (steps may vary slightly by device/OS version)

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Apps or Apps & notifications.
  • Select the app you want to check.
  • Tap Permissions.
  • Tap Location.
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Allow all the time - for background access.
    • Allow only while using the app - for foreground access.
    • Ask every time - prompts each time.
    • Don't allow - disables location access.
  • Also, ensure Location is turned ON globally under Settings > Location.
