Pressing the TEST button initiates the self-test sequence. The self-test can take 60 seconds or more if testing communications over the cellular network. The following actions are part of the self-test sequence:

Test Button
  1. Reboots the data logger.
    1. This ensures internal software restarts and is operating in an expected way. Both status lights stay lit during the reboot. This reboot will not erase data or reset settings.
  2. Perform basic functionality testing on internal systems and evaluate the amount of charge in the battery.
    1. Both the green and red lights blink together slowly while the logger performs tests.
  3. Autodetects connected digital sensors.
  4. Starts the embedded GPS receiver to obtain a current time and location fix.
    1. This process takes as long as 15 minutes to complete.
  5. Establish an internet connection over the network (cellular, Wi-Fi, etc) and communicate with ZENTRA Cloud.
  6. Enable the Bluetooth module to allow connection with ZENTRA Utility Mobile.

After completing the self-tests, the data logger will indicate success or failure by lighting either the red or green status light.

A solid green light (for approximately 20s) indicates that internal tests passed and, if applicable, there is successful communication over the network.

A solid red light indicates an error in the logger, which may indicate:

  • Corrupt logger firmware.
  • Low battery power.
  • Unsuccessful communication over the network.

Use ZENTRA Utility to identify where the self-tests may have failed or to troubleshoot further.

Status Lights

The lights near the TEST button indicate the status of the data logger. The green light is labeled OK and the red light is labeled ERROR.
