ZL6 Modem Install for Verizon in the US

This article details how to change and configure the modem on a ZL6 data logger for Verizon in the US.

MODEM/SIM SWAP TO VERIZON [ US ONLY ]

- Sim starting with number: 8914

Upgrade your ZL6 to Verizon. Please follow the instructions below to ensure functionality:

Note: If Verizon is unavailable in your install area, check for other carrier connections using the next set of instructions

Required logger firmware: Version 2.09 or later

Connecting to the logger via Bluetooth or Physical connection (Laptop). Use ZENTRA Utility to access the terminal command prompt. This opens a dialog box showing the serial commands sent between the ZL6 and ZENTRA Utility.
Type the following command in the command box: set apn vzwinternet
Press Enter. You should see this command and the response from the logger show up in the window above the command box. Make sure the logger sent "OK". If you see “ERROR”, make sure you’ve typed the command correctly.
Verify the Logger has taken the command by typing get apn the response should be vzwinternet
Type the following command in the command box: set profile 3
Press Enter. You should see this command and the response from the logger show up in the window above the command box. Make sure the logger sent "OK". If you see “ERROR”, make sure you’ve typed the command correctly.
Verify the Logger has taken the command by typing get profile the response should be 3
Disconnect the logger from the utility and re-connect
Run a cellular test using ZENTRA Utility Desktop

MODEM/SIM SWAP TO T-Mobile/AT&T

- Sim starting with 8944

Upgrade your ZL6 to 4G using other networks [ NOT Verizon ]. Please follow the instructions below to ensure functionality:

Required Firmware: version 2.09 or later

Connecting to the logger via Bluetooth or Physical connection (Laptop). Use ZENTRA Utility to access the terminal command prompt. This opens a dialog box showing the serial commands sent between the Em60G/ZL6 and ZENTRA Utility.
Type the following command in the command box: set apn h.meter.apn
Press Enter. You should see this command and the response from the logger show up in the window above the command box. Make sure the logger sent "OK". If you see “ERROR”, make sure you’ve typed the command correctly.
Verify the Logger has taken the command by typing get apn . The response should be h.meter.apn
Type the following command in the command box: set profile 201
Press Enter. You should see this command and the response from the logger show up in the window above the command box. Make sure the logger sent "OK". If you see “ERROR”, make sure you’ve typed the command correctly.
Verify the Logger has taken the command by typing get profile the response should be 202
Disconnect the logger from the utility and re-connect
Run a cellular test using ZENTRA Utility Desktop
