ZSC Sensor Current Drain Check

Updated by Elizabeth Smith

This article details how to identify latent sensor issues before they result in loss of data.

Current Draw

A measurement of the current consumption of a sensor is a powerful diagnostic tool that can identify latent problems in a sensor and help maintain a sensor network.  The ZSC has an active and sleep state that has different typical currents.  Refer to the table below for typical maximum current values for sensors in the field.  As a general rule, sensors with a current draw above the maximum or an order of magnitude greater than the typical current have internal electronic problems and should be removed from the network and replaced.
